The HemoCue®
Glucose systems are valuable tools for diabetes professionals. In three
simple steps, the system gives glucose values that can be used for:
• Diagnosing and monitoring diabetes mellitus
People with
diabetes are at higher risk of developing micro and macrovascular
complications in comparison with healthy subjects. Microalbuminuria is
the earliest sign of renal dysfunction and an indication of disease
progression. Multiple studies conclude that the presence of persistent
microalbuminuria strongly predicts those who will eventually develop
diabetic nephropathy. Patients with a persistent microalbuminuria have a
twenty-fold increased risk of developing diabetic nephropathy and
international guidelines recommends annual screening for
microalbuminuria for early determination as to which patients require
intervention.
Anemia
is a common complication of diabetes and many individuals suffer from
it's symptoms like fatigue and inactivity. It often goes undiagnosed and
untreated even though it may be one of the earliest signs of renal
disease. Anemia seriously destabilizes not only a patient's health but
also diminishes the quality of that person's life. Using HemoCue®
Hemoglobin systems at the point of care is a quick and easy way to
identify individuals at risk, allowing for immediate action and subsequent treatment.
